Name and site change
I have renamed the podcast to "insipid.com the podcast" and moved the web site to http://podcast.insipid.com because I found out that Podshow, Inc. has a trademark on the word "podshow".
No, they did not send me a nastygram saying "cease and desist". In fact, they have not contacted me at all, in any way shape or form. I just decided I'd nip this in the bud, before any lawyers wasted their time on me and my efforts.
Unfortunately, this means the iTunes subscriptions are going to die and people will have to wait for the show to be relisted under the new name. The Feedburner feed has also been moved and there was no option to create a redirect so, it's ugly.
I won't go into great detail on my feelings or the reasoning behind them for U.S. Trademark and Copyright laws. Suffice it to say, I think they are mostly bunk. Sure people have a right to some limited form of intellectual property and should get paid or at least acknowledged for their creative efforts, if that's what they want.
But should it be legal for companies to put trademarks on common idioms suchs as "Have it your way", "Get on it?", "I love this place!", "Where do you want to go today?" and so on...
Give me a break... Oh crud, even that phrase has been Trademarked.
