Name and site change

I have renamed the podcast to "insipid.com the podcast" and moved the web site to http://podcast.insipid.com because I found out that Podshow, Inc. has a trademark on the word "podshow".

No, they did not send me a nastygram saying "cease and desist". In fact, they have not contacted me at all, in any way shape or form. I just decided I'd nip this in the bud, before any lawyers wasted their time on me and my efforts.

Unfortunately, this means the iTunes subscriptions are going to die and people will have to wait for the show to be relisted under the new name. The Feedburner feed has also been moved and there was no option to create a redirect so, it's ugly.

I won't go into great detail on my feelings or the reasoning behind them for U.S. Trademark and Copyright laws. Suffice it to say, I think they are mostly bunk. Sure people have a right to some limited form of intellectual property and should get paid or at least acknowledged for their creative efforts, if that's what they want.

But should it be legal for companies to put trademarks on common idioms suchs as "Have it your way", "Get on it?", "I love this place!", "Where do you want to go today?" and so on...

Give me a break... Oh crud, even that phrase has been Trademarked.

Hesitations and Transitions

"Your life is a gift from the Creator. Your gift back to the Creator is what you do with your life." -- Billy Mills

Show Name: Hesitations and Transitions
Episode Number: 002
Description: This week's episode opens with a little bit about Lawrence's obvious running connections, including short blurbs about the accomplished athlete and incredible human being Billy Mills. And another amazing athlete with Lawrence connections, Jim Ryun.

The show continues with a little background on my recent history and how I returned to running over the summer and the effects it has had on my health and fitness.

Music: Music for the show came from the PodSafe Music Network at music.podshow.com. Thanks to Luminous for their song "I Have Arrived" and also to The Gentlemen for their tune "Three Minute Marriage Proposal".

Starting Out

Confucius said "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step."

Well, my podcasting journey has started with a crawl and that's ok. The most important thing is to get started. I've enjoyed putting this together and have learned some things along the way. I'm looking forward to doing more shows and in the spirit of Steve Runner at Phedippidations, I've assembled a list of about a dozen show ideas that I'll start working on in the coming weeks.

I don't think I'll have the time to do more than one show a month, but we'll see how things go. Please feel free to provide any feedback you see fit, send an email to podcast@insipid.com. I know the audio on this one is pretty poor and I'll work on that and I'll work on improving the content too. If nothing else, you can fast forward to the music, those people have actual talent!

Music in this episode came from the The PodSafe Music Network at http://music.podshow.com. The first song is called "Daughters of History" and was performed by Morning Spy. Also in the show is a song by The Worsties called "Midwest". I encourage you to support these artists, they have some excellent music available for $.99 at music.podshow.com.
